Q: Do you promote free resources in the Catalogue?
Q: If my resource is accepted, will it be sold in an
Oxfam shop?
Q: Do you want submissions of new editions of titles
that already appear in the Catalogue?
Q. We have changed the binding (e.g. from hardback
to paperback). Do we need to resubmit the resource?
Q: Does it cost anything to
advertise in the Catalogue?
A: We do not charge for including a resource in the Catalogue for
Schools. We decide on which resources to include based on clear
selection criteria. Once we have decided to include a resource,
we need at least a 33% discount from you, the supplier.
Q: Do you accept paid-for advertising in the
Catalogue?
A: No. We only promote resources that meet our criteria. We do not
accept additional advertising.
Q: Who pays for shipping costs
to the Oxfam warehouse?
A: Standard industry terms are that the supplier pays costs of shipping
resources to a distributor. If shipping is a problem for you to
arrange we can manage the shipping and deduct the cost from your
invoice for resources supplied.
Q: How many items does a ‘bulk
purchase’ consist of? – (at the bottom of page 6 on
the submission form)
A: It depends on the resource. Normally our initial stock order
will be at least 40 copies. Subsequent orders may be smaller, or
larger. For some specialist resources the initial order may be for
fewer than 40 copies.
Q: Our resource isn’t
going to be ready in time for the submission deadline, can I send
it to you in draft form?
A: Yes, as long as the actual resource will be definitely available
by March 2007.
Q: What happens to the resources
that don’t sell? Does Oxfam have a sale or return policy?
A: We normally expect to sell out of our initial stock order, so
do not need to return copies. Your sale to Oxfam is a firm sale.
Q: Do you promote free resources
in the Catalogue?
A: No, because we need to cover the costs of producing and distributing
the Catalogue. If publishers have good free global citizenship resources
we will consider linking to them from our Cool Planet website for
teachers. Please email coolplanet@oxfam.org.uk
with a link.
Q: If my resource is accepted,
will it be sold in an Oxfam shop?
A: No. The Catalogue contains resources for schools. If you think
that your resource is appropriate to offer for sale through Oxfam
shops, initially contact publish@oxfam.org.uk.
But we have to point out that resources designed for classroom use
are not stocked in and do not sell through Oxfam shops.
Q: Do you want submissions
of new editions of titles that already appear in the Catalogue?
A: Yes, please complete the form and submit copies. If the content
has not changed substantially (e.g. just an updated cover, rather
than a new or revised edition) we will update the information we
already have, but we need the new cover to scan for our website.
If the content has changed, you will need to follow the standard
submission procedures for evaluation by our staff panel. Please
make it clear on the submission form that this is a new edition
of an existing resource.
Q. We have changed the binding
(e.g. from hardback to paperback). Do we need to resubmit the resource?
A. Yes, as it will have a new ISBN and stock code, and price. Please
make it clear on the submission form that this is a changed binding
of an existing resource.
If you need further information about the submissions
process, please e-mail schoolscatalogue@oxfam.org.uk
