Christmas Appeal for Peace
Here's the harsh truth: our world is becoming less and less peaceful.
This Christmas, almost half of the countries we work in are affected by conflict.
Whether it’s emergency support, or longer-term peacebuilding projects, a monthly gift from you will make a difference.

Emergency support during conflict
We work with communities and partner organisations on the frontline of the crisis.
During conflict people can lose everything. With our partners, we provide essentials like clean water, sanitation and food. Our support includes:
- Direct cash payments, so that people can prioritise according to their needs
- Clean water supplies, soap and toilets to prevent the spread of deadly diseases
- Food packages to stop hunger from taking hold

Gaza: Duaa Mansour
"My biggest concern is to lose a child, for there is no food. It is really difficult. It is our biggest concern. We try our best to provide them with the needed food to sleep full." - Duaa Mansour
Duaa is a lawyer from Gaza. She lives with her husband and three young children. Like so many parents, she tries to keep her family safe and healthy despite the ongoing conflict in Gaza.
But Duaa says her children’s smiles have changed. They’ve each lost a significant amount of weight. Losing her children to malnutrition is at the forefront of her mind.
Israeli forces have killed more than 44,000 Palestinian people. A third of them are children. And the death toll continues to rise.
Emergency supplies
Despite huge obstacles, and often risking their lives, our partners and colleagues have been able to respond. Since October 2023, we've been able to reach more than 1,000,000 people with food, water, soap and sanitation kits.
Receiving an emergency food parcel meant Duaa’s children were able to eat things they’ve not seen for nine months.
Donate now and support more families living through conflict with emergency essentials.

Rebuilding peace for the long-term
We've got a history of helping people to cope with conflict and build peace. But peace only lasts when we work in solidarity with people affected by conflict.
That's why we work with partners and communities to:
- Support women and marginalised groups to access funding, training and a steady income
- Fund grassroots peacebuilding projects led by the community
- Help rebuild infrastructure, including ways to provide safe, clean water

Yemen: Support people facing discrimination
"I aim to hold a high position, despite all the challenges we faced, despite all the obstacles that were in our way..." - Munadhel
Munadhel is a university student living in Yemen. His family are part of the Muhamasheen, a marginalised group facing widespread racial discrimination.
Nine years of conflict in Yemen has left half the population without essentials.
So when his dad fell ill, Munadhel had to drop out of school to take care of his family. At just 22, he's the sole provider.
Munadhel's determination has driven success
Using money and training received from Oxfam and an EU funded project, he's been able to defy the odds.
Munadhel's finished his schooling, bought a laptop, funded his siblings' education and got a motorbike to assist him in his small business distributing food within his community.
Now, his focus is on finishing his bachelor's degree before a Master's and PhD. Because when you invest in peace, you invest in people's futures.

DRC: Fragile peace
The DRC is a mineral-rich country, exploited throughout history for its natural resources.
Prolonged and recent conflicts have left 13 million people in need of assistance.
Since 2018, South Kivu has stabilised. But people are still rebuilding from years of disruption, loss and displacement.
Agriculture is the main source of income. But low crop yields have limited food supply, nutrition intake and the ability to earn a decent living.
Community peacebuilding in South Kivu
"My fellow women leaders and I now pay forward the lessons, encouragement and opportunities we've received..." - Zamuda
Zamuda lives in Burhinyi district, South Kivu. With support and training from our partner APDIK, she's had training on better farming techniques and business management skills.
Mentorship has boosted her confidence. Zamuda now proudly leads the women's network - passing on her knowledge and skills to other women in her community.
Empowering women creates a knock on effect for future generations. And this strengthens the community, sustaining peace.
Donate now and help sustain peace for generations to come.
This Christmas donate to Oxfam
A gift from you can fund unity and peace. This means you'll be backing people directly affected by conflict to rebuild their lives and communities.
Because peace isn't a nice to have. It's essential for any one of us to live a full and healthy life.
