Gaza crisis: call for a permanent ceasefire

  • Horrific attacks on Gaza by the Israeli Government have killed tens of thousands of Palestinians over the last 15 months
  • A temporary ceasefire came into effect from 19 January 2025
  • Enough life-saving aid must now be allowed to flow freely into Gaza and reach those in need
  • The UK Government must continue to push for a permanent ceasefire, unrestricted humanitarian access, and a path to peace

Our message to the Foreign Secretary David Lammy

"I refuse to stand by and watch Palestinian and Israeli civilians pay the price for political failure. Humanity must be shown to those caught up in this violence and humanitarian catastrophe. Every life matters equally, and we will not be divided on this.

You must do everything in your power to push for an immediate ceasefire, to allow humanitarian aid for people facing intolerable suffering. The siege of Gaza must be stopped, and water, food and fuel allowed in. We ask you to work to secure the release of hostages held in Gaza.

A path to peace and justice for all, that includes a fair future for both Palestinian and Israeli people, is the only way forward. Your government and other world leaders must work towards a de-escalation of violence now."

We are calling on our government to speak up and act

Horrific and relentless attacks in Gaza by the Israeli military have killed tens of thousands of Palestinians over the last 15 months.

A 42-day temporary ceasefire came into effect from 19 January 2025. Israeli hostages and Palestinian detainees have started to be released. This fragile peace is beyond overdue.

Israel has systematically starved, forcibly displaced and deliberately deprived Palestinians in Gaza of everything they need to survive – water, food, medical help and shelter.

This act of collective punishment is against international law, as is the indiscriminate killing of civilians. The International Court of Justice has ruled that there is risk of genocide in Gaza.

The risk of famine remains across Gaza. Israel must now allow enough aid to reach all those who need it. All Israeli hostages and Palestinian detainees must be released.

We must speak out and say that every life — Palestinian and Israeli — should be valued and treated with humanity. And that we refuse to be divided or discouraged in our call for accountability, justice, and lasting peace.
