Oxfam will open its brand-new superstore on Friday 19 July in Manchester – marking the poverty-fighting organisation’s second ever superstore in the UK.

The new 10,000 sq ft superstore will open its doors for the first time in Manchester Fort Shopping Park in Cheetham, with two floors full of preloved clothing, accessories, books, homewares and music, as well a café housed in an Oxfam water tank.

As part of the grand opening, the superstore will also be hosting a raffle inside the store for the chance to win the FA Cup-winning Manchester United T-shirt, signed by their first team squad.

The store - which follows on from the success of Oxfam’s first superstore in Oxford in 2019 - comes as Oxfam announces exciting plans to open up to ten new superstores in the next five years.

Lorna Fallon, Oxfam’s retail trading director, said: “We are thrilled to be opening Oxfam’s second ever superstore and couldn’t have picked a better location than Manchester.

“The store not only has an incredible treasure trove of pre-loved clothing, books, music and more – but we hope it will act as a social hub at the heart of the community for everyone to use and enjoy.

“The superstore also marks an exciting step in our plans to open more new superstores across the nation which will help raise even more money for our life-saving work around the globe.”

As well as raising vital funds for Oxfam’s life-saving work, the superstore doubles as a community hub - offering an exciting space where people can work, volunteer, donate and shop, with space for community groups and workshops to meet.

Inside the superstore will also feature Oxfam’s unique Sourced by Oxfam range of ethically-sourced and sustainable new products - as well as showcase products such as MioMojo handbags, which are recycled, biodegradable or bio-based bags created from foods such as apples and cactuses.

In 2022/23, Oxfam GB worked with communities around the world to reach almost 10 million people, including more than five million people through our humanitarian work. Oxfam provides life-saving supplies to people hit by the world’s worst conflicts and natural disasters as well as helping communities around the world get clean water, grow food and campaign for change. The new Oxfam superstore will raise valuable funds to help support this work.
