Oxfam responds to the UK Prime Minister’s speech at the UN Security Council

Reacting to The Prime Minister’s speech at the UN Security Council, Helen Stawski, Policy Lead at Oxfam GB said:

“If the Prime Minister is serious about returning the UK to responsible global leadership, it must do so through its actions not just words.  With over 40,000 people killed in Gaza and the tragic loss of life spreading in Lebanon,  the UK needs to urgently step up to ensure it is helping to stop these crises, not fuel them.

“This means using all possible diplomatic and economic tools at its disposal to help secure a ceasefire in Gaza and stop the escalating violence across Lebanon and the region. The UK Government must immediately suspend all arms sales to Israel and ensure that international law is upheld. “
